Iradukunda Parfait

Midwife | Public Health Advocate | Rural Development Enthusiast

Iradukunda Parfait is a dedicated midwife with a strong commitment to maternal and child health. With extensive experience in supporting women and raising public health awareness, he plays a vital role in improving reproductive healthcare in Burundi.

As the member  of MAA Vyara Uheke BURUNDI, an organization affiliated with the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), he serves as Vice President of the Supervisory Board, overseeing strategic initiatives to enhance midwifery services.

He is also an active member of Group B Strep International, where he contributes to raising awareness and preventing Group B Streptococcus (GBS) infections in newborns. Additionally, he has participated in the BRIDGE program by Lightful, in partnership with ICM, strengthening his expertise in communication, reproductive health advocacy, and maternal and neonatal mortality prevention.

Beyond his healthcare work, Iradukunda Parfait is also involved in agriculture and livestock breeding, integrating rural development with his mission to support community well-being.

Personal Journey and Commitment

Born in Burundi, Iradukunda Parfait is the third child in a family of twelve. Having faced a difficult childhood marked by economic hardship, he chose to pursue midwifery to make a tangible impact in his community, particularly in family planning and maternal health.

Currently, he volunteers as a midwife at Carama Medical Center, providing essential care and guidance to women and newborns.

Beliefs and Values

Iradukunda Parfait is guided by faith in one God, though he refrains from religious fanaticism. His work is driven by a deep passion for serving communities, improving maternal and child healthcare, and promoting sustainable rural development.
