Chanelle Nininahazwe, RM
Midwife | General Secretary & Co-Founder
Chanelle Nininahazwe was born on 17 January in Muriza, Ruyigi Province, Burundi. She completed her studies in health sciences, specializing in midwifery, at the University Institute of Health Sciences and Community Development (ISS/DSC), Bujumbura, graduating in 2016.
Chanelle has worked as a midwife at Gashoho Hospital since 2018, gaining extensive experience in maternal and newborn care. She joined The Midwife in Action’s Association (MAA) in 2019 as a member and advisor, contributing to programmes strengthening maternal and reproductive health services. Since March 2024, she has served as General Secretary and co-founder of MAA, supporting the coordination and governance of the association’s activities. She previously worked with RCBIF, further building her experience in both community and facility-based care.
Despite personal hardships, Chanelle remains deeply committed to her profession and to advocating for improved maternal and newborn health outcomes in Burundi.
