Claude Niyubuntu was born on October 21 in Mabanda, Makamba, Burundi. He completed his studies in Health Sciences, specializing in midwifery, at the University Institute of Health Sciences and Community Development, Bujumbura, in 2017.
Claude is a dedicated professional in maternal and reproductive health and has been actively involved in midwifery leadership. From 2019 to 2023, he served as General Secretary of The Midwife in Action’s Association (MAA), and since 2024, he has been an Advisor to the association.
In addition to his midwifery work, Claude is an entrepreneur and CEO of Gateaux d’Emotions, an event planning and cake business. He is married to a fellow midwife, and together they have children. Claude is the fifth of eight siblings and draws inspiration from his family and community in his work to improve maternal and newborn health in Burundi.
